Local Colorado Springs landscaping company, Timberline Landscaping, has received the 2019 National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) Award of Excellence Silver Award for landscaping The 39th Annual U.S. Senior Open golf tournament. The project was completed at luxury resort The Broadmoor Golf Club, which is consistently ranked among the best in the world.
The NALP’s Award of Excellence recognizes the best projects in commercial and residential landscape and lawn care installation, maintenance, and design. This award was for the Commercial Design/Build Special Event category and designed by Timberline Landscaping’s skilled designer, Elysa Engle, who is also an award winner for the design and installation on The Broadmoor Estate House.
Timberline Landscaping began working with The Broadmoor Resort in 2008 on a number of projects in preparation for an earlier U.S. Senior Open and the relationship took off from there.
CEO of Timberline Landscaping, Judd Bryarly, says, “We’ve created a partnership with the Broadmoor, and they allow us a lot of opportunity to showcase our work. They’re just so diverse in what they do, but we’re also diverse. And they know that, and they count on us to be an all-in-one vendor for them.”
The landscape itself featured curves in the design that accentuated the building with rows of like plants with staggered heights as well as plant clusters that added visual interest to the U.S Senior Open. A variety of trees, shrubs, and perennials were used that highlighted the beauty of Colorado and the Broadmoor Golf Course for the more than 134,000 people who came to watch the tournament.
While the golf tournament was the main attraction, through Timberline’s work with the Broadmoor, the event landscaping brought the design of nature to the U.S. Senior Open and showcased that an event’s environment really makes the experience.
