Favorite way to enjoy my outdoor space: I love to grill/BBQ, eat outside, play games out in the yard with my family, and GARDEN. During summer months and warm days we eat outside every chance we get. Our patio is our home.
Favorite thing about the green industry: I love being able to create and maintain the same atmosphere that I love so dearly with others. Some people just don’t know the amount of happiness a nice outdoor space can bring you.
Favorite plant: Anything you can eat or drink! Like I said I love to garden and there are so many beautiful vegetables and herbs that you can still make a very aesthetically pleasing landscape. I love to get my hands in the dirt and reap the rewards!
Hobbies: Anything and everything outside! Skiing, hiking, biking, running, CAMPING, and enjoying my patio!
Jake has been in the green industry for 5 years. He’s always worked outdoors, loved planting, and strangely enough loved mowing the lawn (large pasture), so he figured what better industry to get into!
Abby Leeds
Residential Account Manager
Favorite way to enjoy my outdoor space: I love smoking a brisket or ribs and sitting on the deck watching the sun set over Pikes Peak with my dog.
Favorite thing about the green industry: Making personal connections with clients and working in the great outdoors!
Favorite plant: Poinsettias are my favorite to grow but quaking aspens always take the cake.
Hobbies: Hiking, cooking, board games galore and taking a good afternoon nap!
Abby grew up in Kansas City and moved out to the Springs in December of ’22. She started in agriculture during her second year of college, where she fell in love with horticulture and specifically golf course and sports turf. During her time in college, she was able to hone her skills in the field as an intern on a golf course in Montana, as well as a greenhouse operation in Montana. She built up her interpersonal skills as a bartender while she cheered on the KSU Cats! Since graduating, Abby has worked as a grower, growing thousands of pots and baskets but has ultimately fallen in love with the client side of the business.
Samuel Rattray
Residential Account Manager
Favorite way to enjoy my outdoor space: I love to spend time with my wife and playing with our two dogs. Hopefully, we’ve got the grill going!
Favorite thing about the green industry: The green industry is a combination of two of my passions: plants and people. I love to bring those two things together.
Favorite Plant: The Gingko! One of the oldest living tree species.
Hobbies: Hiking, basketball, cooking, baking, cultivating odd plants, and an occasional 5K!
Sam has been working in horticulture for the last 15 years. He started at his local plant nursery loading bags of mulch and soil at the age of 16, slowly working his way to General Manager. Just about any job you can have in a nursery – Sam’s done it! He has worked in cultivation, plant health care, run Integrated Pest Management programs, and managed retail and wholesale nurseries as well as a tree farm. He always considers himself a student and takes as many classes on the side as I can.
