Landscaping the 39th U.S. Senior Open at The Broadmoor was something Timberline Landscaping was proud to involved with! The U.S. Senior Open is being hosted at The Broadmoor beginning June 25th through July 1st, 2018.
This year, our focus was on the main tent area, including the merchandise, Lexus, Jr. tent, first aid and concession tents with plant material generously donated from Harding Nursery. The landscape design features hydrangeas, maple trees, upright junipers and several other varieties of beautiful plants and trees.
This project, much like other projects, had some challenges to overcome. One such challenge involved timing the blooms on the flowers. Designer Elysa Engle needed to make sure the blooms on the flowers would be open in time for the start of the tournament, but not blooming too early or they would be done by the time opening day rolled around. Another challenge was the overall design and installation of a temporary event landscape. Special care was put into installation of the plants without doing major damage to the golf course.
“Timberline is excited to provide the landscape for the USGA and The Broadmoor,” said Judd Bryarly, president of Timberline Landscaping. “This is our third time completing an installation for a U.S. Open event.”
This is not our first time working with The Broadmoor; we won an award from the National Association of Landscape Professionals for our work on the west entrance for the Broadmoor Hotel, and we also landscaped the Broadmoor Estate House.

This is the eighth time the tournament has been hosted at The Broadmoor, and it coincides with The Broadmoor’s 100-year anniversary. For more information on the U.S.G.A.’s 39th U.S. Senior Open click here.
