This is a full-time position directly responsible for managing field operations daily crew/ labor as well as the crew leader position is responsible for overall property maintenance, accurate record keeping, submittal of daily paperwork and accurate cost accounting of daily labor. The Crew Leader is also responsible for meeting hours requirements. This position requires the ability to handle complex jobs, specialty equipment and at times, demanding clients. This position must be able to work effectively in a team environment and is responsible for producing quality landscape services that meet or exceed the expectations of both the client and Timberline Landscaping.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support in the management of Commercial maintenance work including un mowers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers and string trimmers
- Understand how to apply chemical applications to small areas
- Review and understand scope of work with Superintendent, and install to all necessary specifications
- Participate in pre-job planning with Superintendent to help ensure that projects can proceed smoothly and efficiently
- Manage team time keeping of self and landscape tech (typically a crew of 2-4) Supervise crew members to ensure the completion of the daily work plan, quality standards are met, and that production is maximized
- Understand the need for and exhibit the ability to adapt to meet critical deadlines
- Ensure a safe environment for employees, customers, and the public while ensuring the work is done efficiently
- Utilize analytical thinking and critical thinking to address work-related issues and problems
- Train and coach crew members on project tasks or skill development when necessary
- Notify the Production Supervisor of any job inefficiencies and document appropriately for continuous improvement
- Pay attention to detail, ensuring quality and thoroughness in completing work tasks and maintain a clean and presentable work site upon daily completion
- Address crew member personnel issues and discuss protocols in meetings with the Production Supervisor
- All team members help and support other departments when necessary, including snow removal and Christmas decor
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands and Workplace Environment:
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. (ask for help for over 50 lbs.)
- This is an outdoor job with exposure to adverse weather conditions
- This job, at a minimum, requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, control of hand tools and small to medium sized machinery
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens is predominately found with Mow Crews assigned to city parks
Requirements:
- 3+ years’ experience in the industry and leading a crew
- Must be punctual, responsible and have a positive, can-do attitude
- Demonstrate dependability and efficient work practices
- Excellent with computer software, especially Microsoft Office and job management software. Ability to learn new software quickly
- Leadership, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills (including the handling of multiple priorities and deadlines)
- Effective organizational skills that include the ability to self-manage work and manage the work of others
- Must be highly adaptable to the kinds of change that come along with working in an entrepreneurial environment
- Self-starting initiative to pursue improvements and projects without substantial supervision
- Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must have a smartphone with the ability to download and use mobile apps
- Maintain a professional appearance, including personal hygiene and grooming, to represent the company in the best possible way
Desired Skills:
- Landscape Industry Certified in Softscape (commercial) or Hardscape (residential) a plus
- CDA QS certification
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
