We are looking for a Landscape Designer to create attractive, functional outdoor living spaces for homeowners and businesses, as well as estimate plans and sell work. Designers work closely with clients, crews, and superintendents to see a client’s vision come to life! Use creativity and the beauty of nature to design harmonious, aesthetically pleasing and functional areas; such as lawns, walkways, outdoor living space, and more.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create accurate estimates based on detailed takeoffs created from your landscape and irrigation designs and specifications
- Analyze subcontractor and vendor bids if required and incorporate those proposals into the estimate accordingly
- Verify material prices with vendors
- Adjust the total estimate according to template unit prices based on an analysis of material, labor, equipment, other indirect costs, overhead, and profit in consultation with superintendents and/or Project Manager
- Revise contract templates to customize them for specific jobs
- Follow up on sales leads, make sales, and achieve sales goals set by management
- Present, promote, and sell products/services using persuasive communication to both current and potential clients
- Communicate exceptionally well with clients, vendors, and coworkers
- Perform site analyses that include the assessment of current plants, soil conditions, slope/grade, lighting, the view, and architectural style of the property
- Research topics such as plant health and their ability to survive within our climate, guidelines, and codes
- Review and understand plans, proposed changes, and any other necessary documents
- Speak confidently when presenting projects, complete with plans and associated documents
- Oversee the progression of the project to ensure that plans are on pace for on-time completion
- Generate CAD designs, drafting plans, construction details, hand renderings, and digital 3D models
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Degree in Landscape Design or a related field
- 2+ years of estimating and design experience
- Must work in the office – not a remote position
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Pro
- AutoCAD experience is a must
- Sales experience is a must, as well as a proven track record of success in sales
- Exceptional ability to negotiate and close sales
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute ratios and percentages. Ability to define problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Self-starting initiative to pursue sales without the prompting of management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Surveying experience and equipment knowledge
- Basic understanding of materials and labor costing
- Knowledge of how ecological conditions can affect a proposed design
- Raw talent for sketching and drawing. Though computer programs are used for most plans, the candidate should still be able to create realistic drawings by hand
- Keep current with relevant software, professional training, and cutting-edge tools of the profession
- Must be highly adaptable to the kinds of changes that come along with working in an entrepreneurial environment
- High level of integrity and dependability with a keen sense of urgency and results-orientation
- Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must speak fluent English
- Must have reliable transportation as travel will be required
- Must pass a background check consisting of employment history, personal/professional references, criminal record, and drug screening
- Must be willing to assist and support other departments when necessary, even if it falls outside of the job description
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Fast-paced, fun, and casual office environment
- Must be flexible with the schedule to accommodate client needs
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and lift/move up to 30 lbs
- Walking, bending, twisting, reaching, crawling, stretching, and standing on occasion is required
- The job is partly an indoor office setting. The other part of the job is spent out-of-office in sales meetings/pitches, client site meetings, visiting vendors, and evaluations. This will require you to be outdoors
